After Keith’s injury in 2006, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) provided his family with funds to ensure they were able to be by his side during his recovery. As a result of the SOWF’s support for Keith, and their commitment to supporting the families of all Special Ops members killed or wounded in action, all funds raised through Ascents of Honor go directly to the foundation.
The SOWF was founded in 1980 to serve the military’s special operations forces and their families. A tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the SOWF is dedicated to ensuring free college scholarship grants, not loans, and educational counseling to the children surviving special operations personnel who are killed in a training accident or operational mission. Additionally, the SOWF provides funds to the families of severely wounded special operations personnel to meet immediate needs when special operations personnel are hospitalized with severe wounds.
